This initiative that has allowed Aya to spend the summer with a host family in Mijas, and for a short while forget about the situation that some 200,000 thousand refugees experience, including thousands of children who have been unable to leave this summer because they don’t have the same opportunity. This was explained by the Mayor of Mijas, Josele González, who also wanted to express his gratitude to the Idiliq Foundation who financed the cost of the flight.
Every year, the Association of Friends of the Saharawi People of Mijas, through its ‘Holidays in Peace’ project, arranges the stay of these children with families from Mijas. For her part, the President of this group, Mari Carmen Cortés, has thanked the Foundation that supports this important cause with various actions.
The Idiliq Foundation maintains a commitment to solidarity with groups and individuals of the Costa del Sol and Tenerife, In this sense, the President of the Foundation, Juan Miguel Marcos, stressed that: “For a few years we’ve been involved in several initiatives with the Saharawi people to send them food, but the one that makes us most excited is to help the children of the Saharawi people by inviting them to Mijas to have a good summer and make their situation visible. That Aya has been able to come for us is a source of satisfaction.”
