Mijas Town Council has launched its XXI ‘In Summer, Don’t Pass on Reading’ campaign to promote reading to youngsters.

According to Councillor for Culture, Verónica Ensberg, the aim of this action – aimed at children aged between 6 and 14 years – is to “actively encourage kids to read with an incentive of a fun day at Wyndham Costa del Sol.”

For this purpose, booklets have been designed for the little readers to fill in, which they can pick up between 3-14 July at any of the four municipal libraries in Mijas. The theme of these reading diaries will be the Mijas Selfie Route, which will give them the opportunity to get to know the beautiful places in the municipality.

Participants need to complete and return the notebook with all the photos in the Selfie Route and the 12 readings between 21-28 August to one of the four libraries of Mijas. The prize is a day of enjoying the facilities at Wyndham Costa del Sol with entertainment and lunch included, thanks to the support of the IDILIQ Foundation.

The ambassador of the organisation, Nuria Martín, stressed that the Foundation has been collaborating with the campaign since 2020, and in this edition, they want “many children to participate and complete this challenge over the summer.”
