The event was opened by Dr Yusuf Hamied, a pharmaceutical entrepreneur and philanthropist of international relevance, who has financed the building that bears his name next to the headquarters of the Cudeca Care Centre, destined for training and research.

For his part, Rafael Olalla, Chief Financial Officer, explained the importance of transparency in the management of organizations such as Cudeca. He reported on the positive financial results for 2023, with an expenditure of €6.5m and income of €6.8m producing a surplus of €269,000, adding, “Another year that has been covered, despite the increase in patient demand, which has skyrocketed since the pandemic.”

Dr Marisa Martín, Manager, Medical Director and founder, together with Joan Hunt of Cudeca, explained to the audience the results of Cudeca’s care. She highlighted the urgent and essential need to strengthen palliative care, adding “Caring for the end of life is a global priority”. They also emphasized the importance of integrating the community as a co-responsible part of caring for those at the end of life.
