The Reading Dynamization Campaign ‘In summer, don’t skip reading’ launched by the City Council of Mijas celebrates its twelfth edition this year.

An initiative that the IDILIQ Foundation has been supporting for several years with the aim of encouraging children between 6 and 14 years old to read during their well-deserved holidays.

On this occasion, the chosen motto has been ‘Refresh with Culture’ so that minors can also get to know the cultural spaces of the municipality. “From the Library area they do a magnificent job all year round for the promotion of reading and an example of this is this campaign that already fulfils its 22nd edition. It is true that the summer season has to be filled with content, the youngest have to have fun too and this initiative in some way what it does is encourage reading and, at the same time, open the opportunity to get to know our cultural spaces,” said the councillor responsible for the area, Juan Carlos Maldonado.

Likewise, the mayor wanted to show his gratitude to the IDILIQ Foundation, “which is present in practically all the activities of the City Council and in the entire social life of the municipality, of course, he has not wanted to rule out the cultural field so important in our municipality.”

For his part, the president of the Mijeña entity, Juan Miguel Marcos, has highlighted that the winners will be able to celebrate the adventure of reading in the facilities of the complex. “It is a playful day designed for the enjoyment of small readers. The truth is that for us it is a joy to be able to sponsor this campaign every year that, in addition, always obtains very good results, since the number of children participating is increasing, which means that it is a success.”

The reading revitalization campaign will take place between July 1 and August 30 and the number of readings proposed to children will be 12 books.

Participants will be given a reading diary adapted to their age, which can be collected in any of the four libraries of Mijas from July 1 to 12, both inclusive. And the reception of the notebooks will be from August 26 to 30.
