The Mijas Racquets Club is preparing to host the sixth edition of the #DesafíoDuchenne Charity Padel Tournament from May 9th to 11th. This popular local event has attracted support from over 135 collaborating companies across the province this year.
Continuing its commitment to the cause, the IDILIQ Foundation is once again contributing two 5-night accommodation vouchers for the tournament’s winning pair.
The tournament’s primary goal is to raise funds for the Duchenne Parent Project Spain Association, which works tirelessly to develop treatments and improve the lives of those affected by Duchenne and Becker Muscular Dystrophy. These rare genetic degenerative diseases predominantly affect boys, often requiring them to use a wheelchair by age 12, with an average life expectancy of 30 years.
Organisers aim to surpass previous participation numbers by registering 150 pairs, exceeding the usual range of 100 to 120. However, progress has been slower than expected. Organisers like Alicia remain optimistic, saying, “We think many people are signing up last minute,” while Belén Pizarro adds, “I encourage everyone to join in and make this event truly shine with participation.”
Registration is available via the VOLA mobile platform, and those wishing to contribute directly can do so through ‘Fila 0’ donations via Bizum.
