The IDILIQ Foundation once again showed its support for ‘Darkness into Light’ this year by participating in its traditional walk aimed at raising awareness and promoting the prevention of suicide and self-harm.

The campaign began 17 years ago in Dublin, initiated by the Pieta House Foundation, which introduced the idea of a walk starting at night and continuing through dawn to highlight the issue of suicide.

The Association of Relatives and People with Mental Illness of the Costa del Sol (AFESOL) joined the initiative a decade ago. It is a vital cause, as each year in Spain, approximately 4,000 families are affected by the suicide of a loved one. This equates to 10 individuals taking their own lives every day in the country, underscoring the importance of activities like this to raise societal awareness.

The walk began at 6am at the Bulevar de la Cala de Mijas and concluded with a welcoming breakfast for more than 50 participants.
