To mark World Breast Cancer Day, the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) has launched a new campaign under the slogan “We Take It To Heart”. This initiative sheds light on the realities of living with breast cancer, going beyond diagnosis and treatment to focus on the broader challenges faced by patients and their families.

During an event held on Wednesday at the AECC’s provincial headquarters, patients, family members, and professionals shared powerful testimonies about the obstacles they encounter following a diagnosis. The AECC also took the opportunity to honour the efforts of IDILIQ Group employees, presenting them with an award in recognition of their unwavering commitment to the fight against breast cancer.

Juan Miguel Marcos, President of the IDILIQ Foundation, emphasised the company’s dedication to this cause, noting that every October, the entire team unites in an internal campaign to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer. Over several weeks, employees and volunteers organise a dynamic programme of activities designed to maximise visibility and fundraising efforts. The Foundation further amplifies this impact by pledging to match every pound raised, doubling the total contribution. This annual initiative culminates in the presentation of a cheque to the AECC, symbolising the collective effort and dedication of the IDILIQ team.

It is worth noting that 24% of breast cancer diagnoses occur in women under the age of 50. While research has improved the average survival rate to 85%, there remains a pressing need for society as a whole (including healthcare providers and public institutions) to address the ongoing challenges faced by patients and survivors living with the long-term effects of the disease.
